You might want to try a longer exposure without the flash.. might get a little more balanced light.Does this mean it was a slow day in the rental car business today?

That is what we are all trying to do! Photography is fun this way.. there is always a different way to look at things.I am kind of envious of you now - slow rental days mean a great time to get out a tripod, camera and work on macro shots with your fleet.
I must admit I like what the flash's doing here. I probably wouldn't have tried. I have a horrible landscape somewhere with some bright grass on the foreground, so I'm always a bit cautious using it....
Reminds me of looking down an elevator shaft. I would also suggest what Scott said; even leaving it expose and shine a flashlight or something all around. Get some cool effects.
